"For 25 years the Naperville Community Radio Watch has been an extra set of eyes for the Police Department, helping make Naperville one of the most family-friendly places in the country. The group is marking its 25th anniversary with an invitation-only event tonight at the Holiday Inn Select in Naperville. The group formed in 1982 when citizens who wanted to help the community formed an alliance with the Naperville Police Department. NCRW members received specialized training from police and have acted as an extra set of eyes and ears for the police ever since. ..."

"The group has consistently been lauded by local and state officials. In 1997, the group's efforts assisted police with the arrest of a car burglar. Ksiazek said the group's extra eyes and ears are especially helpful when crime patterns cannot be established. "...

"They enhance the public safety of the citizens by being utilized at a time when no crime patterns exist in order to assist in reporting criminal activity, making the community safer," Ksiazek said."  ...         Contact Nick Fawell at nfawell@scn1.com or 630-416-5196
